About Me

Shirley Chan

I’m a Ph.D. student in the neuroscience program. My research interests are molecular neuroscience and neurodegenerative disorders. I want to investigate the mechanisms that are involved resulting in these disorders. I had completed my bachelor’s in Biology from The City College of New York, CUNY. Where I spent most of my undergrad doing an array of research from neurodevelopment, to virology and biomedical optics. While also serving as an advocate for women in science, doing outreach, and science communication. Which I plan to continue during my graduate studies.

Outside the lab I enjoy doing photography, baking, cooking, fashion and the arts. I have created a science instagram shrly.biology to merge my artistic skills while communicating science.

In my free time, I enjoy being on the water as an avid angler. I also enjoy playing table tennis as well.
